Dental phantoms are devices used for practicing in dental universities. The dental phantoms resemble the anatomy of the skull and all the anatomical structures in the maxillofacial region. There are different type of phantoms depending on the exercise you want to create. Some of the phantoms contain only the cheeks, the gums and the teeth. Others include muscles, the tongue, blood vessels and nerves. Some are connected to devices that are constructed to make signals – visual (the eyes of the phantom turn red), or sound signals (they turn on when you are about to reach a main blood vessel or a nerve branch)
Nowadays every dentistry college uses phantoms in the dental education of students.
